Welcome to our blog! As an Army family, we are not usually stationed anywhere close to our relatives and often have to leave behind dear friends every time we move. This blog is our way of keeping our family & friends in "the loop". Check back every few weeks to see what is happing in our lives!

A Trip To The Zoo

This morning we went to visit the Reston Zoo with some good friends of ours. It was the perfect size for a hot day and very "hands on" (it reminded me quite a bit of the Sunset Zoo in Manhattan for all of my Kansas friends... minus the prairie dogs running amuck, of course!). The animals weren't quite as exotic as what you would find at the National Zoo in D.C. (unless you are city folk and consider goats exotic...), but the kids had a great time anyway and even got to ride a pony!

To the right is my friend Nataliya with her little one, Sophia. Below is a picture of Madison and Nina feeding the goats.

Here are some pictures from the wagon ride through the "prairie". Please take notice of the "human habitats" in the background of the photo of Madison and Nina. The zoo is literally in the middle of a housing addition and many of the houses butt right up to the boundary line! Cracked me up! Below Madison is feeding a camel.

Ella was enjoying the wagon ride quite a bit until a bison came up to say hello. She jumped out of her seat faster than lightening and was in Daddy's lap and refused to move!
