Welcome to our blog! As an Army family, we are not usually stationed anywhere close to our relatives and often have to leave behind dear friends every time we move. This blog is our way of keeping our family & friends in "the loop". Check back every few weeks to see what is happing in our lives!

No Time For Boredom!

So far this summer Madison has been very busy! The weekend after we returned from New York, she hosted her very first sleep-over! Eleven girls came for the Friday evening event, and eight stayed overnight! It was a huge success and Madison had a great time. (I'll have to blog one day about my tips for a successful sleep-over ~ the girls really had so much fun!)

Then, this week, Madison went to Girl Scout Day Camp. She learned new songs, made tons of great crafts, met new friends, and came home each day with lots of stories! She earned 11 Brownie Try-Its and several patches this week alone! That should tell you how busy they were!

Also this week we went to our local public library. Madison almost fainted when she found out she could check out fifty books at a time and didn't have to return them for three weeks! The girl is in book heaven! I had to quickly make a rule that she can only check out the number of books that she can carry herself as she loves to read and would easily meet her quota each trip! To top off her love of the library, I let her get her very own library card. It is so much fun to see her get excited about books!

Other events coming up for Madison are swim lessons for the month of July, a trip to Georgia for Uncle Allan's wedding, and a family reunion in New York. Somewhere in between we'll find time to make some crafts, visit a few museums, and so see our good friends near Virginia Beach. Today we are off to a Music Festival in the lovely neighborhood of Del Ray. I'll give my reviews and post some pictures of our day once we return.

Ahhh...this makes me miss my childhood days at girl scout camp. Tell Maddie she's adorable and I'm glad she's having a fun summer!
