It's official! We are no longer living in Kansas!!! We said a bittersweet good-bye to Fort Riley, drove a billion miles with stir crazy children, and are now officially East Coasters!!! We arrived in the early evening, but the sun had already set so I couldn't see the Post very well. I was feeling a little overwhelmed after fighting my way through the Washington D.C. traffic and started having serious doubts about coming here. However, after seeing this beautiful Post in the daytime, I love it and already don't ever plan on moving!!
Today I went to the Commissary (grocery store for all you non-military types) and almost fainted in the parking lot. It is HUGE! I was in Commissary heaven! Who knew you could actually have two solid aisles of bread alone!!!! They had everything I needed and stuff I didn't even know I needed! The selection was amazing! I know, I know.... so sad that I am getting this excited over a grocery store, but if you knew how frustrating shopping for food has been for the past 6 years you would understand. Keep in mind that I was in Kansas, so finding certain items was impossible and I always had to go to several different locations to get all of my groceries!!! Not anymore!!!!!!
The housing here on Post is amazing ~ hopefully we can experience it first hand soon! Right now we are living in Post Lodging and praying that a house will become available. Originally we were told we wouldn't have to wait long to get a house, but things have since changed. Apparently nobody moves in the winter! Anyway, lodging is nice and I have no complaints. We have a small furnished apartment complete with a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and two bedrooms. House or no house, we are comfortable, settling in, and together as a family ~ that is the most important thing. We know that God has lead us here and has a plan for us, so we march on with confidence knowing that everything will work out as it always does!
Welcome to our blog! As an Army family, we are not usually stationed anywhere close to our relatives and often have to leave behind dear friends every time we move. This blog is our way of keeping our family & friends in "the loop". Check back every few weeks to see what is happing in our lives!

Hello Taylor family,
Just wanted to say a quick hi and I'm glad to hear that you like your new location. DC traffic is a bit of a headache but you'll get used to it soon enough. Hope the girls are settling in okay. We sure do miss you guys in the neighborhood!
Much love and many hugs,
