Welcome to our blog! As an Army family, we are not usually stationed anywhere close to our relatives and often have to leave behind dear friends every time we move. This blog is our way of keeping our family & friends in "the loop". Check back every few weeks to see what is happing in our lives!

October

This is my favorite time of year! I would gladly skip summer (I hate the heat) and go straight from Spring to Fall. We really are in a little oasis in the middle of the state ~ the Army Post is so beautiful with all of the 100+ year-old houses and trees. I love to take walks in the brisk morning air and hear the leaves crunch under my feet. The colors are so vibrant and the air smells crisp... I can't wait to experience Autumn on the East Coast next year!

Michael began a course TDY October 1st ~ we are lucky enough that it is only 2 hours away, so he gets to come home to visit on the weekends. It keeps him very busy reading and writing papers, but he seems to enjoy it and it gets us one step closer to our next assignment!

Our October activities included a visit to Louisburg Cider Mill just outside of Kansas City. Madison did a great job navigating us through the huge corn maze and we all picked pumpkins out of the patch. We also spent a Saturday carving pumpkins, eating roasted pumpkins seeds & drinking Caramel Apple Cider. Yum!

Halloween here on Post really is like nothing you've ever experienced in "the real world". My friend described it perfectly when he said it was like a scene out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Hundreds of children in costume trick-or-treating up and down the streets of Historic Main Post..... the old houses, the cool air, all the neighbors handing out candy to children and warm cider to the adults. It's amazing! I made Madison's costume this year (I could feel my Grandma smiling down from Heaven!) and decided I really do love to sew!
