It's been a while since I last posted, so I thought I'd better update everyone!
Michael made it home for R&R on February 18th. The girls and I were so excited to pick him up from the Kansas City airport that afternoon! Ella greeted him with "DADDY!!!" and went to him immediately! She even cried for him when he was out of her sight. It definitely made his day as we were prepared for her to not recognize him since it was right before her 1st birthday when he left. Madison was all smiles and easily slipped right back into "Daddy's Little Girl" mode. Just the thought of that day and remembering the girls' reactions brings tears to my eyes!
We spent most of Michael's R&R at home relaxing, but we did take a weekend trip somewhere in the middle to Kansas City. We had a great time at Science City in Union Station! I highly recommend going if you ever find yourself in the Kansas City area. The girls had so much fun playing, learning, and exploring! Madison and Michael went to the Planetarium to view the "stars". We wore ourselves out, yet somehow we found enough energy afterwards to go to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner..... yum!
We also celebrated Madison's 7th birthday while Michael was home. (Wow! I can't believe our little girl is 7!) He actually left to return to Iraq on her birthday, so we celebrated a week early while in Kansas City. Michael's mom and dad were able to join us for the day, so we had a little party complete with cake, ice cream, and presents! Madison's one birthday wish was for her Daddy to be home for her party, so we made it come true!
We are so thankful for each moment we have together! I think that being in the Army had made our family strong. We realize just how precious life really is! We have learned to let go of the little things that bother most people and focus on building relationships, trusting that God is in control, and being positive! We often have no control over the outcome of our life, but we do have control of our attitude.
With that said, the girls and I are back to our daily routine and Michael is back to work in Iraq. We look forward to his return, hopefully in August, when we will most likely move to a new post. I'll keep you updated!!
